A hygge kitchen is one that is designed with both form and function in mind. The focus is on simplicity and functionality, while still maintaining a sense of style and charm.
The first step to creating a hygge kitchen is to choose the right colors and materials. The color scheme should be light and airy, with neutrals and soft hues.
The materials should be natural and organic, such as wood, stone, or ceramic. Once you have the basic foundation in place, it's time to add some personal touches.
Incorporate items that make you happy and bring you joy. This could be anything from your favorite cookware to a vase of fresh flowers.

These small touches will make your kitchen feel warm and inviting - the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with friends.
There's something about a Nordic summer house that just instills relaxation. Maybe it's the simplicity of the design or the way that they seem to effortlessly blend into their natural surroundings. Whatever the reason, I can't get enough of them!
So I'm counting down the weeks until my new kitchen is built. After a lot of time pinning (check out my Nordic Summer House board) I have finally settled on a style. Nordic Summer House meets Modern Farmhouse.
After a lot of contemplation and research, I have decided to use Bianca Carrara marble as countertops, although I will be using a sort of acid-wash to remove most of the "shine" so it gets installed with a slight patina already...with an underslung double basin.
This will be my color scheme - I've already painted our new front door that lovely dark blue/grey color used in the top cupboards and I will be using the same color for my bottom kitchen cupboards - Duco spraypainted with either a finger grip door handle or stainless steel strip handle.
I've also designed a little bookshelf in the kitchen island unit and got inspired by these ideas...
Here are my thoughts on barstools...
And don't forget the must-have Muuto pendants for the island unit!
So in a nutshell, the following elements will be incorporated into my Nordic Summerhouse meets Modern Farmhouse kitchen design for our new home...
PS. It may be 2023 now, but my kitchen is not dated and I am still very much in love with it!
